Editorial Policy

Hyperbaric-Care.com publishes evidence-based information about hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). This page explains how we research and maintain our content.

Our Editorial Standards

We write about a medical treatment. That means accuracy matters more than anything else. Our standards:

  • Cite primary sources. Every clinical claim links to a peer-reviewed study, FDA document, or official clinical guideline. We don’t cite secondary sources when primary ones are available.
  • Distinguish FDA-approved from off-label. HBOT has 14 FDA-cleared indications. Research into other uses is ongoing. We label these differently on every page. We don’t present investigational uses as established treatments.
  • No treatment claims. We present what the evidence shows. We don’t tell readers HBOT will cure, treat, or prevent any condition. We present data and let readers and their doctors decide.
  • No promotional content. We don’t accept payment to write favorably about any clinic, device, or product. Provider pages link to the UHMS directory. We don’t list or rank clinics.

Our Sources

We rely on the following sources for clinical information:

  • PubMed / NIH:peer-reviewed studies, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and clinical trials
  • FDA.gov:cleared indications, device approvals, and safety communications
  • UHMS (Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society): approved indications list, clinical guidelines, and provider accreditation standards
  • Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic:patient-facing clinical descriptions and educational content
  • CMS / Medicare:coverage policies, National Coverage Determinations (NCD 20.29)
  • Cochrane Reviews:systematic reviews of clinical evidence where available

We do not cite Wikipedia, non-peer-reviewed blogs, or manufacturer claims as clinical evidence.

How Content Is Written and Reviewed

Content on this site is written with reference to the primary sources listed above. Each page is reviewed for:

  • Factual accuracy against cited sources
  • Correct classification of FDA-approved vs. investigational uses
  • Presence of required disclosures (medical disclaimer, affiliate disclosure where applicable)
  • Broken or outdated links

Update Policy

Medical evidence changes. We review condition pages when new major studies or guideline updates are published. At minimum, we review all condition and guide pages annually.

The lastmod date in each page’s metadata reflects the last content review. If you find outdated information, use the contact page to let us know.

Corrections Policy

We correct factual errors promptly. If you believe a page contains an error (a misquoted study, an incorrect FDA status, or outdated information), please contact us. Include the specific claim and the source you believe contradicts it. We’ll investigate and update the page if warranted.

Affiliate Disclosure

Some pages may contain affiliate links to consumer products (such as mild hyperbaric chambers). Affiliate links are clearly disclosed at the top of any page that contains them. Affiliate relationships don’t influence our editorial content. We don’t write sponsored reviews.
